When we chat to clients about social media campaigns there's always lots of talk of competitions, interactive discussions and viral videos. However, the best social media campaigns are often the most simple…

As we are approaching the silly season that is Christmas, we want to take this opportunity to let you know about our favourite campaign of the moment, which is the Beefeater Grill Mr Man (and Little Miss!) Family Portrait Maker – okay granted, the name could do with work, but the concept is spot on!

Here's how it works:

• Log on to social.beefeater.co.uk/mrmen

• Create your own family portrait by adding and naming your own Mr Men and Little Miss characters - e.g. 'Dad is Mr. Tickle'

• Download your family portrait or upload to Facebook and Twitter to share with friends.

• That's it.

It's a concept that is clearly aimed at children, but as we often find, if kids enjoy it adults probably will too. It's a campaign that is also perfect for Beefeater's target market, by identifying its commitment to families and raising the profile of its new Mr Men kids meal range. It's also genuinely something that people want to do – I for example, took a great thrill in naming my other half 'Mr Forgetful', (his memory is awful). It appears others agree with me – with more than 50,000 people creating their own family portraits in the first month of it going live.

And, the great thing is that it's not just for families either, anyone can do it! So, why not give it a go?
