Positioning SimplyHair as a “cut above the rest”

The client
SimplyHair is an online hair extension and salon supplies wholesaler.

The brand wants to be positioned as a trusted supplier to mobile hair stylists and independent salon owners, ultimately driving sales and raising its profile as a competitor to larger, well-established wholesalers.

Our approach
The programme combined regular news releases with business profile opportunities for founder Amy Filippaios. To generate press coverage in hair trade and business titles, we developed a series of stories and advice pieces including:

  • Creating a research report highlighting why hair & beauty businesses are prioritising social media over website development
  • Launching a new range of Instagram-worthy salon essentials and a free virtual business skills course during lockdown
  • Placing articles and comment dispelling myths around hair extensions and sharing technical guidance


The results
Within 9 months, we have secured more than 40 pieces of editorial coverage in titles including: CreativeHead, Concept Hair, Professional Beauty, HJ (Hairdresser’s Journal) and Salon Magazine.
